Henri IV - An unfinished reign

Frans Pourbus the Younger

Ca. 1569-1622

Frans Pourbus the Younger was a Flemish painter who was born in Antwerp.

He was summoned to France in 1609 by Marie de Médicis, and painted an excellent series of ceremonial portraits. These include the famous Portrait of Henri IV (depicting the king with a plumed helmet and white sash), now in the collections of the Louvre, a copy of which is in the Musée National du Château de Pau.
