Henri IV - An unfinished reign

Pierre de Francqueville

Pierre de Francqueville (also spelled Franqueville, Francheville and Francavilla) was a French sculptor.

He left for Italy at a young age, where he trained under Giambologna. At Henri IV's request, Francqueville returned to France, and took up residence in the Louvre in 1604. He was the inspiration behind a new form of Mannerism, and executed a number of works for the king.
