This piece, of which we find traces in several printed or manuscript anthologies of French dances, is of uncertain origin. It may have come from a ballet (a Ballet des Filoux was performed in 1607). It can be danced in a double branle, which may be varied in the middle section by steps (8) from the gay branle, for example.
